Dr. Matt

Dr. Matthew DeGroot grew up in a very small town in southeastern South Dakota. He graduated from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor’s in Biology and minor in Chemistry. Dr. DeGroot received a Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry.

After graduation, Dr. DeGroot practiced at Lossman Eye Care in Park Ridge for three years serving as an adjunct clinical preceptor in primary care and contact lenses for the Illinois College of Optometry and Pennsylvania College of Optometry. In 2006 he then moved on and spent three years at a laser vision correction center seeing approximately 30,000 pre and post operative LASIK and PRK patients. Dr. DeGroot started Envision Eye Care within a Chicago Costco in November of 2008.

In January 2023 he happily returned to Park Ridge teaming up with his wife Dr. Melissa DeGroot to concentrate on their private practice patients.

Dr. DeGroot has enjoyed volunteering for the American Red Cross as a first aid and CPR instructor. He has also had the privilege to be an attending optometrist at a rehabilitation and nursing facility located in Des Plaines.

Dr. Matthew DeGroot loves spending time with his family doing such activities as boating, hiking, biking, camping, fishing, and swimming. He is also an avid fan of NFL football.
